Transforming cities through data

Data has the potential to transform the way city residents live, work and interact, in a sustainable way.

At City Planning Labs (CPL), we collaborate with city governments to harness the power of data to create and enable more livable, resilient, and inclusive cities.

WHAT ABOUT IT?

Data is the new infrastructure

Over the last five decades, data has become the new infrastructure for cities worldwide. Often, it is collected, processed, and stored without being leveraged for more or greater purposes—partly due to information silos unsupported by data governance or one-stop-shop technical solutions.

Find out more about how we at CPL resolve these gaps between governments, data, and their citizens, using our tried and tested approach gleaned from valuable experience.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

CPL’s approach works under a four-pillar framework that supports cities in establishing a robust data ecosystem.

Each of these pillars is equally important. But there is no prescribed starting point—the key is to be agile and meet the city government where they are excited and willing to start while developing a roadmap to address gaps across all pillars.

Our IPDS framework is designed to help governments, communities, and stakeholders build robust and practical data ecosystems through a set of toolkits and resources and by offering practical solutions.

GET INVOLVED

Ready to transform your city?

CPL uses a wide range of capacity development approaches, including training, mentoring, training of trainers, online engagement via email and message, and in-person meetings from one-on-one to large groups.

Interventions can be intensive or extensive depending on the need. This support is provided to city partners, World Bank, and consulting teams embarking on CPL programs.
